Your new school

Hays Education are working in partnership with a school in North Leicestershire which provides academic and vocational qualifications to students aged 14-19. Many of the students who attend have additional needs including Moderate and Complex learning difficulties and SEMH needs.

The school are looking for candidates to work as a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant. This is a part-time role, working 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday.

Your responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant / LSA, you will work with students 1:1 or in small groups to promote their engagement and learning. You will assist the Teacher in the management of students, resources and the classroom environment. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. You will establish constructive relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs. You will operate within legal parameters as described in the school's policies and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

For this role, you will have recent experience of working in a school setting and ideally have supported students with Special Educational Needs. You will have an interest in working with challenging, vulnerable or at risk young people and be passionate about making a difference. You will also be able to work as part of a team to best meet the needs of pupils. You will ideally hold a Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) qualification but this is not essential.
