Job Description

Your new school Hays Education are currently working in partnership with a Special Needs school in Swindon in recruiting for a number of Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) vacancies to start ASAP in February. You will assist pupils in class to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. You will work alongside the class teacher in delivering activities that are age appropriate and engaging, and may be asked to provide intervention sessions with small groups and individually with pupils on a one to one basis.Your new jobThis Higher Level Teaching Assistant role involves advancing pupil's learning in a range of classroom settings, including 121, groups and the whole class when the teacher is absent. You must be familiar with school curriculum and age-related expectations of pupils, examination frameworks and teaching methods. You must work collaboratively with the teaching team to support the Secondary Curriculum, planning and managing resources to raise standards in learning with interventions. Monitor pupil's participation, progress and provide feedback.What you'll need to succeedAs a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will need to have a proven track record in a HLTA role with a HLTA qualification or equivalent Level 3 and above. Experience of independently delivering lessons to groups of pupils in the absence of a class teacher. Excellent knowledge of the Secondary Curriculum, be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development, appropriate levels of childcare including experience of working with pupils with lower ability to raise pupils learning levels.
