Teacher of Geography

Guildford - January 2016

I am representing a fantastic school near Guildford who are seeking a teacher of Geography to join the humanities team. This school are looking for a teacher who delivers engaging lessons and who is able to motivate students to succeed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the qualifications, knowledge of, and capacity to deliver Geography to a high standard. To be successful in this role, you will be keen and able to enthusiastically promote Geography, and the Humanities at all levels within the school curriculum, be able to work collaboratively within a team and to engage all students in the learning process. Additionally you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and a desire participate in whole school initiatives.

The school has dedicated teachers offering a wide range of courses in a caring and supportive environment. Emphasis is placed on maximising student attainment and striving for high academic standards while encouraging students to develop a sense of self-worth.

Ofsted have graded them good across the board with the aspiration to become good/outstanding by the next inspection around 2017. They have a new head teacher starting in Jan 2016, so it is a very exciting time for the school and this applicant. They would essentially be starting at the beginning of the journey with the new head. There will be progress opportunities developing fast.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate a proven track record within the classroom and have;

  • Sound subject knowledge, to A' Level would be beneficial

  • willingness to give and receive support
