School: Secondary School, Aldershot
Job title: English Teacher
Start date: January 2016
An ambitious school in Hampshire with a superb range of facilities are looking for an English Teacher to join their team next year. The staff is friendly, welcoming and focused on its mission to improve the opportunities of the students in its care. They also have a strong relationship with the students, and the school as a whole has an active and empowered student council.
The school itself is expansive, but has a relatively small number of students, which contributes to lower-than-average class sizes. There is an effective range of support in place, particularly for English and Maths. The headteacher is hugely passionate about encouraging literacy and reading, and the English department have strong links with the school library, where KS3 classes regularly have lessons. With the recent GCSE curriculum changes, the school is demonstrating its commitment to success in English by moving towards having 5 lessons a week of English at GCSE.
Having visited the school on a number of occasions I am always impressed by the attitude to learning in all classes and the calm and pleasant atmosphere in the school.
The school's most recent Ofsted report noted:
"The school is ambitious for their students"
"Students are enthusiastic about learning"
"The school's curriculum prepares students well for life in modern Britain"
