The Green Way Academy is a community primary academy, catering for 404 children. Children start their academic journey in the school year in which they are five years old, when they join our Foundation Stage. Children from Mcmillan Nursery who are due to start at the academy are invited to come along to several play sessions. Other parents and children are welcome to come when convenient for them or by appointment.
There are 16 classes in the academy, 2 in foundation stage, 5 in Key Stage 1 and 10 in Key Stage 2. All Key Stage 1 classes have a maximum of 25 pupils and Key Stage 2 has an average class size of 25. Children are placed in classes by age. The majority of our Year 6 pupils will transfer to Thomas Ferens Academy, although some children have gone to St Marys, Newland School for Girls, Cottingham High and other schools/academies.
There are 16 full-time teachers and 5 part-time teachers. They are well supported by teaching assistants, administration staff, caretaking staff, cleaning staff and lunchtime staff.
