Tendring Technology College is a large split site comprehensive schools for students aged 11-18, located in the pleasant village of Thorpe-le-Soken and the historic town of Frinton-on-Sea. The mix of this rural and coastal location is a lovely backdrop for our young people and at the same time there is easy access to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country, and the capital itself, London.
In September 2013 the College underwent a full ‘Section 5’ Ofsted inspection. Tendring Technology College was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ in every single category. Whilst we are extremely proud and we would urge you to read the report, we do not believe we are perfect. What makes us Outstanding is our desire to continually improve so that all of our students achieve the best possible results they can, as well as enjoying their education and getting a broader range of experience in school.
Thorpe Campus is situated in the village of Thorpe le Soken. It serves students aged 11-14. Our Frinton Campus serves the needs of students aged 14-19. We take children from a large area surrounding the College. This includes Thorpe-le-Soken, Kirby-le-Soken, Kirby Cross, Great Holland, Little Clacton, Weeley, Tendring, Little Bentley, Wix, Beaumont, Great Oakley, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze as well as a number of students who travel from much further afield including Harwich, Alresford and Colchester. We are the school of choice for the students in this area because we have high standards in a supportive environment that enables all children to enjoy outstanding achievement. Parents choose Tendring Technology College because they know their child will get a personalised education with high expectations of academic performance, achievement and behaviour.
Tendring Technology College is an academy and it converted in August 2011. We chose to join the Academies Enterprise Trust in order to enable our staff and our students to work with and mix with a range of people across the country. Tendring Technology College continually evaluates its curriculum to ensure it keeps pace with requirements both from the government and for the needs of young people, giving them the skills to enter the world of work, further education and higher education.
We are a true comprehensive school. We serve the needs of every type of child. Consequently, we have a curriculum that supports the reading and writing skills of children who join us at age 11 who have struggled with their learning throughout primary school. We have a Pathway Group for those children who may have underachieved at primary school but who have the capacity to make rapid progress. We have specialist provision for children with higher learning potential so that those children who would be successful in a Grammar school can be even more successful with us. The provision for our higher learning potential children goes right through to the Sixth Form enabling them to make applications to the top universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
Tendring Technology College is a happy College which every child can enjoy.
