Lambeth College was formed in June 1992 as a new tertiary institution to meet the post-16 education and training needs of Lambeth residents. The College was created by incorporating the former Brixton, South London and Vauxhall Colleges and including post-16 work formerly undertaken by a number of Lambeth secondary schools. The College also has a regional role in the provision of specialised vocational areas. In April 1993 the College became independent of the local authority under the provisions of the 1992 Further and Higher Education Act, and in 1999 it took over responsibility for the delivery of Community Education in Lambeth.
We take pride in our reputation as one of the best employers in FE in London, and this is reflected in a number of College achievements. We received the Investors In People award in January 2000, reaccredited in January 2003 and December 2005 (under the new standard), and achieved Centre of Vocational Excellence (COVE) status in Business Studies and Construction in 2003/4.
We employ over 700 academic and support staff, with a £36m budget, to meet the needs of over 20,000 students, making Lambeth one of London’s largest further education colleges.
When you study with us at Lambeth College, you will be learning in an environment committed to providing its students with the best experience possible with lots of support from experienced tutors and modern industry standard facilities.
At Lambeth College, we care about YOU. The outstanding level of support we offer to our students is second to none. Our recent Ofsted inspection states that 'Students feel valued and speak positively of the well-established culture of tolerance and respect in the college.'
