Bexleyheath Academy

About Us

A Warm Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to Bexleyheath Academy

The staff and Governing Body are fully committed to providing an outstanding education for all our students. Our continually improving academic achievements and Ofsted rating are built on a foundation of mutual respect and tolerance, working in partnership with our parents and carers, to ensure each child achieves their full potential.

The Academy provides a well-maintained and stimulating learning environment. We have extremely high expectations of our staff, and are continually looking to develop them as professionals whilst raising the standard of teaching through bespoke individual training, and the rigorous monitoring of classroom delivery.

We have equally high expectations of our students. We work hard to ensure their attitudes towards learning, their efforts, their commitment and their willingness to take on active roles in Academy life, both inside and beyond the Academy gates, continues to evolve over time. We expect students to develop a respect for themselves and their peers, as well as for their staff, their Academy, their learning environment and for their own community.

It continues to be an absolute honour and a privilege being the Principal of this Academy and I class the students and colleagues as my second family. It is a pleasure to work alongside them and to spend time in their company.

I fully encourage and strongly recommend you contact the Academy to book a tour and see for yourself how far we have come and what we do each and every day.

I look forward to meeting you.

With respect and sincerest best wishes,

Mr C A Wakefield

The quality of teaching has continued to improve at Bexleyheath Academy with the year-on-year improvements in academic progress, attainment and achievement as direct evidence of this.

We are fully staffed with high calibre professionals teaching their specialist subjects. We have an equally committed and high quality support staff who very much reinforce the work carried out by our teachers and without whom we could not operate at the standards weare now reaching.

All staff are totally committed to providing our students with the very best educational experience both inside and outside the classroom environment. They all adhere to a detailed and individualised staff training programme that runs throughout the academic year and are, like the students, encouraged to be ambitious and to aim to reach their full potential.

A comprehensive whole academy staff appraisal process is in place whilst teaching and learning is rigorously monitored and scrutinised by a specialist team led by a highly experienced Senior Vice-Principal. This team is made up of senior members of staff with individual responsibilities for literacy, numeracy, marking and assessment, appraisal, staff training and the leadership and development of subject leaders.
