Bermondsey Community Nursery, located in the heart of Shad Thames, has been providing quality early childhood education and care to local families for 30 years.
Children who attend Bermondsey Community Nursery start on the path of a lifelong love of learning. We offer the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. Each child’s progress within the framework is noted daily, weekly and termly. Parents meet with their child’s Key Person on a termly basis and can organise additional meetings as they like.
Children can join our nursery from 16 months old and may stay until they are ready to begin Primary School.
A registered charity, we are a fully inclusive nursery and enjoy a diverse child and family community.
We are child-centred and aim to provide stimulating activities and exercises that are based on each individual child’s needs, likes and stages of development.
We implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which is flexible and takes into account the needs of the whole child. Through both organised adult-led play and child- directed activities, we aim to encourage children to achieve a balance in their overall development as a young person.
Areas of Learning and Development are:
The Key Persons compile individual actionplans for each child in the nursery and observe their development in all areas on a regular basis. All activities are planned in advance to encourage personal growth in all areas of development. Individual reviews are carried out each term.
